Our beloved pet Marge left us yesterday at 13 yrs and 9 months.
7/16/1997-4/11/2011
14 years, 15 states, five books, three major life changes, two of the world's softest ears, thousands of walks, millions of kisses, zillions of snuggles, infinite belly rubs, laughs and treats … and two men whose lives have forever been changed by one rescue dog’s unconditional love. You helped teach us both it was OK to love again, with wild abandon, hearts be damned. Ours may be broken now, but you mended them once, and you will once more, when we see you again. I know you'll be waiting for us, head always turned, looking back, to see if we're coming. And we walk. Forever.

So incredibly sorry about your loss. I'm so glad she had a wonderful life in your care, though.
Sending you much love and light. Marge was blessed to have such loving caregivers in her life. I know she blessed your life and I know you blessed hers. My heart goes out to you during this time.
I'm so sorry you lost Marge. I enjoyed hearing about her in your books. You will see her again, she will be just as happy to see you too. Time will pass faster than you can imagine. Glad you all took care of each other.

So very sorry for your loss. She was so beloved and seemed to be a very happy dog. She'll always be with you in your hearts.

Beautiful tribute. We are still mourning our Katrinka who went to heaven Feb.18th. She didn't quite made 13. Our hearts are heavy and there is a huge whole in our lives and hearts. Knowing I will see her again is my only comfort.
So sorry about Marge. Sounds like she had a wonderful life with you guys and I love your beautiful words honoring her.

I commented on your fb post but felt compelled to say something here as well. I am so very very sorry for you and Gary's loss. After reading the chapter in "It's All Relative" about the stray dog you had to put down, I can only imagine how upset both of you must be right now after having Marge for so many years.
Know that so many loved Marge just from reading about her and she will always be remembered by so many who never met her.

Oh, Wade, oh, Gary - I too have loved & lost a rescued dear heart and understand how much you've lost - but I can see you remember how mu ch she brought you. What a love.

Oh Wade & Gary, I am so sorry for your loss. That pain, all too familiar, is unbearable. You are on my heart.
We just lost our Mable two weeks ago. It's heartbreaking. You need the book Dog Heaven by Cynthia Rylant. It's a kids book but it's simplicity comforts so beautifully. I got it with our last dog's passing and have had "angels" leave it with many friends who have had to go through the same thing.
