Confessions of A Prep School Mommy Handler Out Today!

Tuesday, September 4, 2007

Today, my book meets the world! But, like most things, it happened without fire raining from the sky or trumptets blaring. It started with me waking up at 6 a.m. to say goodbye to my parents, who had been visiting Michigan for 10 days. Then they, like they always do, left pre-dawn, like AARP Fugitives, and sprinted out the door like they just learned their home was being foreclosed.

This is life. The biggest days of your life still have routine, predictability; they still take a back seat to life in general.

But my focus is on "Confessions." It has to be ... I poured my heart and soul into this book, and I want the world to read it.

So, after my parents left, I did an interview with 105.9 "The X" in Pittsburgh. I chatted with the DJ's about the book, self-esteem, hot moms, and what the state of Michigan was feeling like after losing to a mountain range called Appalachian State.

Now, I'm gearing up for more interviews, the book tour and, of course, neurotically checking my Amazon ranking every hour. I know not to do this. It's like that old joke: "Why do dogs lick themselves? I check my Amazon ranking constantly, because I can. It's easy. I can check over and over, like Rain Man, simply by hitting "Refresh," "Refresh," "Refresh," every 10 minutes on my Mac. I do it, even though I know I shouldn't, because I believe that I can telepathically make it go higher and higher, until my book is selling better than Harry Potter and the Bible, combined.

That's where you come in.

Buy the book.

Save me from myself.

And I promise: You will love the book.

Read an excerpt on my web site. Check out the great press and reviews.

If you are a parent, you'll love it.

If you've ever gone to school, you'll love it.

If you have half a funny bone, or a barely beating heart, you will love.

So buy it. Now.

Until then, I will deal with life ... and keep hitting "Refresh."
